Kingpin was formed in 1985 by Harry Cody and Tim Tim. The band kicked off their career with a 7" single titled "Shout It Out" (which hit #1 in Sweden, their native country) in 1987 after drafting vocalist Zinny San and drummer Stixx Galore a short time later. Kingpin released their only Swedish album Welcome to Bop City 12" LP the following year and later uprooted to Los Angeles and changed their name to Shotgun Messiah.
