 "Meet Me in Purgatory". Musically, I'm really pleased with the post-punk guitars and the beat that we accomplished making this song. This period of writing the album still felt very much like I was in the cocoon phase in my own personal purgatory. I wanted to address my feelings of fear and uncertainty, but I also wanted to explore the romance and real love that I was experiencing with my wife. It made me realize I could shape my world how I wanted, and with the strength of this love, I didn't need other nourishment from the outside world. So for me, this was a new approach to talking about love in a song. I don't think I've ever addressed it quite like this. |
